Benjamin Banneker Elementary School

We are pleased to announce that Benjamin Bannker has been selected as a STAR school for 2006-2007. We were selected by the state Department of Education for our school-wide PBS (Positive Behavior Support) program. Banneker's program was cited for "going above and beyond to provide exceptional support to students, parents and staff." Banneker Elementary School has been awarded a Superior Rating by the Delaware Department of Education ever since the state school rating program was implemented in 2002. It has also been named a Distinguished Title I school for the past two years, due to the outstanding performance of our students. At Banneker Elementary we strive to create a safe, positive learning environment. The Baldrige System of Continuous Improvement Model has enabled us to provide effective, strategic instruction, evaluate our results and ultimately validate best practices in our school and classroom. Throughout all we do, meeting our students’ academic needs is our priority. We strive to provide engaging instruction and celebrate achievement. The implementation of our Positive Behavior Support system encourages student to do their BEST in school. At Banneker BEST stands for Be responsible, Express respect, Safety first, and Teamwork.
