Principal: Jean Wylie

Principal: Jean Wylie Jean Wylie became principal of Benjamin Banneker Elementary School in April 2003. Prior to that time, she served as assistant principal at Banneker School for 6 years and as assistant principal at Milford Middle School for 9 years. Mrs. Wylie was also an elementary pre-first and special education teacher for 21 years at Lulu M. Ross Elementary. While at Lulu Ross she was awarded the Teacher of the Year for the 1988-1989 school year. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Delaware State University and a Master's Degree in Administration from Salisbury State University. She has also taken doctoral classes at the University of Maryland. She has been an active member of various professional education associations including the Delaware Principal's Academy, serving on their executive committee in 1996. Since taking leadership at Banneker, the school has remained a Superior rated school and became a Title I Distinguished School for the last two years. Assistant Principal: Nancy Carnevale

Assistant Principal: Nancy Carnevale Nancy Carnevale became the assistant principal at Banneker Elementary at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year. Before moving to Banneker, she was the assistant principal at Milford Middle School from 2003-2007. Ms. Carnevale came to the Milford School District as the writing specialist at Lulu Ross Elementary School. Prior to coming to Milford she taught in the Cape Henlopen School District for 13 years, teaching grades 4-12. In 2000 she was chosen as the Cape Henlopen Teacher of the Year . She has a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and Journalism from Dennison University, another Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University, a Master's Degree in Education Leadership from Wilmington College, and she is currently completing her Doctorate Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a technology specialization from the University of Delaware.
